Dysport is an injectable anti-wrinkle treatment that is made of botulinum toxin type A, similar to Botox. We offer Dysport at all of our Honolulu, Hawaii facilities.
Dysport vs. Botox
Dysport and Botox are very similar in their chemical makeup, though the two treatments differ slightly:
- Dysport is best for treating larger areas, like horizontal forehead lines
- Some European studies indicate that Dysport’s effects last slightly longer
- Dysport has been shown to take effect more quickly in some patients
Ultimately, whether Dysport or Botox is best for you depends on your treatment goals, personal brand preferences, and physical anatomy. Dr. Larry Schlesinger can help you determine which cosmetic injection is right for you during a personal consultation.
How does Dysport work?
Dysport’s botulinum toxin temporarily immobilizes the muscle in which it’s injected—either in the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), in the corner of the eyes (crow’s feet), or in your frown lines. Once these muscles relax, your appearance will be much softer, your skin will look smoother, and you will likely feel more approachable.
Dysport can help temporarily reverse dynamic lines and wrinkles caused by your natural facial expressions.
Dysport: What can it do for me?
As we age, our facial tissues begin to lose elasticity and sag, causing lines and furrows to appear in our forehead and around our eyes and mouth. Dysport and other Botox-like injectable wrinkle treatments can help temporarily reverse dynamic lines and wrinkles—those caused by your natural facial expressions. Frequent squinting, laughing, and frowning can cause permanent creases to develop on our foreheads, which Dysport is especially effective at treating.
How often do I need to repeat Dysport injections?
Most patients touch up their Dysport injections every 4-6 months—the duration that Dysport’s effects typically last.
When can I expect to see Dysport results?
Most patients begin to see visible improvement in their lines and wrinkles within one week of Dysport treatment.
Most patients begin to see visible improvement in their lines and wrinkles within 1 week of Dysport treatment.
What to expect from your Dysport Treatment
Dysport injections are performed in our Honolulu office in just under 5 minutes, making it the perfect lunchtime treatment. After your treatment, you can return to work and resume most normal activities immediately; we just recommend you refrain from working out for a full day. Contrary to popular belief, Dysport and Botox injections will not make you look “frozen” or unnatural when they are performed by an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. Instead, good Dysport results will still allow you to make your same facial expressions, they will just be softer and more subtle.
